Day 2 in NOLA

Sunrise view

This is the view we awoke to today, all after a thankfully good night’s sleep. So gorgeous!

Z and I did some treadmill and strength work at the gym and then we went to Bear Cat cafe for breakfast. The food was much higher quality than Mother’s restaurant, though I was sorely disappointed that my tofu scramble burrito was kind of…taco size…. I was expecting Louisiana portions too, especially for an $18 burrito! But the taste was right on and we’ll go back there.

We then took the streetcar to the garden district and did a self guided walking tour, which was lovely. Those big mansions, and the history behind them, so interesting! I’m a big fan of architectural tours as they carry so much history and culture with them.

We took a bus back to our hotel and afternoon was TV time for kids and book and chill time for this mama, followed by some pool time.

We headed out at 3pm for a late lunch-early dinner at Rampart treehouse but the kids didn’t want to walk 25 minutes so we ended up at Felipe’s Mexican restaurant which was very mediocre Mexican food (in my book). It was plentiful and filling though.

On to walking and exploring the French quarter more and then a really soul touching jazz show at 5pm at preservation hall, followed by more beignets at Cafe du Monde and another successful day.

Tomorrow….a plantation and swamp tour. S is afraid he’ll get eaten by alligators and is begging not to go. It’s an early morning start with a 730am pickup so we splurged on room service for breakfast.
