Today was composed of lots of phone calls, online doctors’ appointments, visits to pharmacies to get meds, to grocery stores to get hydration, and calls to hotels, flights, mileage plans, work etc to figure out back up plan if kids can’t travel tomorrow if they are still sick. S is on day 4 of illness and still no food but seems to have slightly turned the corner as he is showing some sass today. Z is in the midst of despair and many symptoms but the meds kept the boys hydrated today. They also each had a handful of potato chips.

Last meal in Venice, potentially. In a dark room where Z is sleeping, a bunch of grocery store and take out leftovers, without the boys who haven’t eaten in days and are still varying levels of sick. In moments like this, one truth is evident—it is not where you are, what you do or what you eat—but rather the people who are with you. Eternally grateful for my lovely cousin and my 2 amazing boys, who I hope get healthy soon.
In the meantime, we have a backup Airbnb for the next 2 days in Venice, and a backup flight to the US from London next Tuesday that is fully refundable and backup hotel reservations in London that we switched. I really hope he get sleep and no vomiting tonight.
