Arriving in Venice with a twist in the plot.

Poor S has been under the weather. He either has food poisoning or a GI virus as he had diarrhea yesterday (thankfully stopped by a dose of Imodium) and then vomited this morning firing breakfast (now zofran on board). He actually felt “better” after that but had been tired and off all day.

I managed a 2 mile run this morning in Florence with a gorgeous view and a huge hot air balloon flying over the city.

Thankfully most of the day was a 4 hour train ride to Venice from Florence,

I felt bad for S as he has been begging to send Venice and he is arriving sick. Please send well wishes for him. We arrived in Venice and navigated the water taxi and walk to our gorgeous apartment where my lovely cousin from London was meeting us and had already checked in—what a treat.

We did lunch, grocery shopping for breakfast, and then settling into our rooms. After that, I let S rest for a bit while the rest of us explored, walked to the Rialto bridge, admired the glass blown art that makes Venice famous, went to St Mark’s Basilica and found and dinner. I’m not sure what was wrong with Z, but he was out of character and basically whined the whole time, wanting to go home, asking for Fanta and gelatin at every store we passed (we don’t do soda but he got lemon soda today as I bought his brother Sprite to re-hydrate.

Florence is quite beautiful. We had a not great experience at dinner where the waitress was exceedingly rude but otherwise, it was a pleasant evening while tuning out the whining. You gotta do that as a parent for sanity sometime.

I can’t wait to show S Venice tomorrow and I hope he is well enough to see it.
