We are at the beautiful new renovated PDX airport, still shocked and heartbroken over the direction our country is taking, on our way to Italy.

We are flying to Rome via Iceland and then will hit Florence and Venice. This is a bucket list trip for us, especially S, who is enamored by Venice and its canals, and I wanted to take him before Venice became victim to ongoing climate change.

The updated PDX airport is gorgeous…look at those ceilings!

I’m using Timeshifter app to try to not arrive jet lagged so have been up since 4am and told both boys they need to sleep as soon as we get on the plane at 230pm, for most of the flight. They will get one euro per hour plus a 5 euro bonus at hour 5 and 8. Let’s see how this works. Yes, I’m bribing my kids.

Our flight gate is right by this lovely play area where Z is getting out his wiggles.
