Let’s say that the night wasn’t great again. Still headachy and waking a lot. My Garmin watch told me my stress levels were high and sleep score was poor (nothing I didn’t know). My belly hurt like it does when you’ve been vomiting except no vomiting or diarrhea yet during this mysterious illness, that I think is a “mild” version of Bali belly.
But at breakfast, I was actually hungry, a feeling I hadn’t had recently. And I was able to muster up energy to sit by the pool with the lovely ocean view you see in the photo above as my kids played. I then even had energy to get in the pool a couple of times, and agree to play pool volleyball with them. Since I basically didn’t parent at all yesterday, I was trying to be more present today.

After lunch, the boys had massages scheduled (together) and I had one right after. The spa here is ridiculously beautiful. I tried to take some stealth photos. My massage was a bamboo stick massage….it was good but I still don’t know how I feel about it. I think I generally prefer warm hands/body vs inanimate objects for massages, I think.

We have our first cultural experience tomorrow, a tour of Uluwatu temple at sunset and then seeing the Kecak fire dance. I’ve been told it’s crowded and busy, and lots of traffic, so we’ll see what we’ve gotten ourselves into. We had scheduled for Monday through Airbnb experiences but I had to ask to reschedule and it was looking dicey about doing it tomorrow but the tour guide just gave me the heads up that it’s possible. In nusa dua, we are the closest to the temple (45ish minutes) vs 2 hours or more than 1 hour when we are in Ubud or Sanur later in our trip. There’s nothing I hate more than sitting in a car in traffic 😂.
We have one more full day at the hotel, and I think that’s perfect, as I’m feeling “resorted out.” Ready for real life soon, although I sincerely hope we get no more illnesses as yesterday was pretty horrible.
I’m a little tired of resort food too, and not sure if I’m a big fan of Indonesian food. I’ve had it before, and probably shouldn’t judge from hotel food, but there aren’t many vegetarian options here and those that they make vegan for me seem to be super oily. I used the grab app to order Indian food for a change today (seamless experience btw!) and was not impressed. It was like Indian food with zero Indian spices. We’ll see how it goes, but luckily Bali has lots of international options..
Unfortunately I can’t upload our hotel walk through videos but you can find them on Facebook.
