Today consisted of a morning run for me, pool time for the kids and a lazy morning followed by lunch at Samsen villa by the river in Chiang mai. It is a Michelin star restaurant, and although the food was decent, I was underwhelmed by the food, the slow service, and the view of the muddy river (as were the kids)
We then met up with a friend who was visiting from the states and went to Warorot market. It was our first time truly exploring a Thai market, and riding a songthaew (Thai open taxi).

We then went back to Shangri-la hotel anc the kids played in the huge pool with a water slide. They have a great day pass rate and we’ll likely go back at least one more time.
It was fun to hang out with another family. Coincidentally, another family from portland was also in another villa on our Airbnb property and it turns out I peripherally have worked with the mom in that family. Small world. Reminded me that it’s nice to have some company or connecting while we travel, especially with other travelers too.
We are off to an elephant sanctuary tomorrow, so excited.
