Let’s start by saying I slept almost 9 hours tonight and awoke a different person. I took some unisom last night and stuffed ear plugs in my ears. Z did wake at 3am and I did hear him, but less so, and I was able to fall asleep. He said it took him an hour but he finally did too. We all started the day in a good mood and well rested.
I did acquire a “sitter” after the hotel told me there was none. She was one of the workers at the hotel (not sure what she does), barely spoke English, and I’m sure wasn’t qualified to do childcare, but she was nice, and available, and a warm body to hang out with Z for 2 hours. I gave S the hotel key and told him to just stay on the grounds . He loved the freedom.

And me? I was delighted to finally run on the beach and get into the zone without having to concurrently parent. I ran for over an hour, and had time for a shower afterwards too. Sleep and an hour of exercise—these are the 2 things I need to parent well.
The rest of the day was spent at the hotel, eating ice cream, looking at views, and the kids got a massage while I got a spa treatment too.

We had an early dinner so that we could head to the beach to watch the sunset. Which was both lovely and stressful. The kids got into the ocean and are truly fearless and kept going further and further, scaring both me and the lifeguard, and the then S kept arguing with me about it. I so want to be the “fun mom,” but these kids have no caution at all, so I have to hold it for them.
Sunset was gorgeous.. photos below.
