Settling in…

Yesterday was our first full day in Chiang mai. I can’t believe it as it already feels like we’ve been here forever, a sign perhaps of how relaxed we are.

Morning run

I did not sleep well the first night here (4.5 hours) but better than the zero before. The morning started with a very short and slow 15 minute run and then some pool time with Z as S chilled at home. That’s one thing I like about our home. It’s on a huge property with a few other villas and a pool and a 200 meter path that goes all around and doubles as my track. So it’s easy to get some space from each other and get all of our own needs met, and S doesn’t have to feel like he’s dragged everywhere.

Z at the pool

We then spent the morning trying to get supplies—food, spices etc. This involved a very hot and humid walk down the side of a busy road (no sidewalks here) and a fair degree of whining by Z. Buying drinks and popsicles along the way helped. We got to the slightly bigger market so I could buy some honey, spices, apples, oranges etc

Lunch at cafe Din

We then had lunch at a local place that had pasta options as S especially needed some familiar food. Cafe Din was good.

The day ended with some screen time and me cooking dinner. I spent a fair amount of time also researching and coordinating activities we want to do here the rest of the day,

The best part? We all slept pretty well and are adjusted to the time change. I highly recommend the Timeshifter app as I think it helped.

Morning run today

I got to start my day today with another morning run.

Overall the kids are doing great. I was worried about S but he seems super happy and excited and wasn’t even super fazed by the geckos in his room, and the mosquito bites he’s gotten. He has a phobia especially of bugs and has refused to sleep in a room before if there’s a spider, so this is amazing.
